Outer Balance Indicator Lights Red - Imbalance detected
One or more of the outer Balance Indicator lights showing red means the Segway PT is unbalanced. Adjust the position to correct it before riding.
Balance Indicator Lights Flash - System fault or low battery
When the Segway PT performs a safety shutdown, the Balance Indicator lights will flash. This indicates a problem that requires attention.
Battery Charge Indicator lights off — No AC power or cord issue
The Battery Charge Indicator lights are off when the PT is plugged in, indicating a potential issue with AC power or the charging cable connection.
Center Balance Indicator Light Red - Segway PT is not balancing
If the center Balance Indicator light is red, the Segway PT is not stable and not ready for riding. It needs to be leveled.
Center green Balance Indicator light only — PT is in Standby Mode, ready to step on
One green Balance Indicator light in the center indicates the PT is in Standby Mode and ready for the rider to step on.
Five green Balance Indicator lights pulsing — PT in Riderless Balance Mode, ready to step on

An unhappy face icon on the InfoKey Controller signals that the Segway PT has initiated a safety shutdown due to a fault or a very low battery.
No Balance Indicator lights illuminated — PT is not ready, do not step on
When no Balance Indicator lights are illuminated, the PT is not ready to be stepped on. This may indicate it is not powered on or has encountered an error.
One red Battery Charge Indicator light — Charging problem with one battery
There is a charging problem with the corresponding Battery. The PT is plugged in and charging, but one indicator light is red.

One or more red Balance Indicator lights mean the Powerbase or LeanSteer Frame is tilted and the PT is not ready to be stepped on.
Safety Shutdown - PT automatically stops
The Segway PT stops itself if it detects a system fault or critically low battery. It will shake the handlebar, make noises, flash balance lights, emit a tone, and show an unhappy face on the InfoKey display.
Safety Shutdown occurs — Batteries too hot or too cold
The PT has performed a Safety Shutdown because the Batteries have become too hot or too cold, affecting safe operation.
Speed Limiter icon on InfoKey display — Reduced performance due to temporary condition
The PT is operating at reduced performance levels, with the speed limit lowered until the condition clears. This is an alert that you are moving too fast.
Speed Limiter or Stick Shake Warning — Batteries too hot or too cold for riding
The PT Batteries have become too hot or too cold while riding, potentially affecting performance and activating a safety alert.
Stick Shake Warning and Growling Noises - Indicates safety shutdown is imminent
This warning means the Segway PT is about to perform a safety shutdown due to a fault or low battery. You have about 10 seconds to stop safely.
Two red Battery Charge Indicator lights — Charging failure detected
A failure has been detected during charging. All charging has stopped. One or both Battery Charge Indicator lights may be solid red or off.
Warning Tone - Safety shutdown in progress
An audible warning tone sounds during a safety shutdown. This alerts the rider that the Segway PT is reducing speed and will shut down completely.
Wrench icon on InfoKey display — System fault detected
The system has detected an error in its redundant subsystems and is performing a Safety Shutdown. The Segway PT will reduce speed and emit an audio alert.
