Grundfos MAGNA3 Pump
34 fault codes documented
Alarm 10 — Communication fault between electronic parts
There is a communication problem between different electronic components inside the pump. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Alarm 29 — Forced pumping, flow through stopped pump
Other pumps or external sources are forcing water flow through the MAGNA3 pump, even when the pump is stopped and switched off. This indicates an issue with the system's hydraulics.
Alarm 40 or 75 — Supply voltage too low
The electrical supply voltage to the pump is below the specified operating range, which can prevent the pump from functioning correctly. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Alarm 51 — Pump is blocked
The pump's internal components, such as the impeller, are physically blocked by foreign matter or impurities, preventing it from rotating. This fault does not reset automatically.
Alarm 57 — No water or too much air at pump inlet
There is insufficient water at the pump inlet or too much air mixed with the water, causing the pump to run dry. This fault does not reset automatically.
Alarm 64 — Stator winding temperature too high
The temperature inside the motor's stator windings has become excessively high, indicating that the motor is overheating. This fault does not reset automatically.
Warning/Alarm 72, 84, 155, 157 — Internal electronic fault
There is an internal fault within the pump's electronics system. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Alarm 74 — Supply voltage too high
The electrical supply voltage to the pump is above the specified operating range, which can potentially damage the pump's electronics. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Warning 77 — Communication disturbed in twin-head pump
Communication between the two pump heads in a twin-head pump system is disturbed or broken. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Warning 88 — Internal sensor signal out of range
The pump's internal sensor is sending a signal that falls outside its normal operating range, indicating a potential sensor issue. The pump may automatically reset and restart once the fault is cleared.
Warning 93 — External sensor signal out of range
The pump is receiving a signal from an external sensor that is outside the normal operating range. This could also mean the sensor has been removed but the analog input is still active.
Alarm 10 — Internal fault, circuit board connection lost
The pump has detected an internal fault where different circuit boards inside the pump have lost connection to each other. This is a critical internal error.
Alarm 51 — Blocked pump, pump stops and tries to restart
The pump has detected that its rotor is blocked, causing it to stop operation. It will automatically attempt to restart. This can happen if the pump has been inactive for a long time.
Alarm 72 — Internal fault, pump stops and tries to restart
The pump has detected an internal fault, causing it to stop operation and display a red light. It will automatically attempt to restart. This can be caused by unusual flow patterns or power issues.
Blocked pump — Pump impeller is obstructed
This indicates that the pump's impeller or moving parts are physically blocked, preventing the pump from operating correctly. This can lead to reduced performance or complete stoppage.
Dry running — Pump is operating without liquid
This warning indicates that the pump is running without sufficient liquid in the system. Dry running can cause serious damage to the pump, including overheating and mechanical wear.
External sensor fault — An external sensor is malfunctioning
This fault indicates an issue with an external sensor connected to the pump, such as a temperature, pressure, or flow sensor. The pump relies on this sensor for specific control modes.
Forced pumping — Pump is operating in a manual override mode
This indicates that the pump has been manually overridden to operate regardless of normal control signals or fault conditions. This mode is typically used for testing or specific maintenance.
Grundfos Eye indicates a pump alarm
The Grundfos Eye status indicator light is showing an alarm. This signifies a critical fault that may have caused the pump to stop or prevent it from running. Immediate action is usually required.
Grundfos Eye indicates a pump warning
The Grundfos Eye status indicator light is showing a warning. This means the pump is operating outside optimal parameters or an issue requires attention, but the pump may still be running.
Grundfos Eye LED flashing - Bluetooth connection in progress, but not connecting
When you try to connect your Grundfos MAGNA3 pump to the Grundfos GO Remote app, the center LED of the Grundfos Eye flashes. This means the pump is looking for a Bluetooth connection. If the LED keeps flashing and doesn't become solid, it indicates a problem establishing the connection.
Internal fault — An internal system error has occurred
This general fault indicates an issue within the pump's internal electronics or software that prevents it from functioning correctly. It requires attention to diagnose the specific problem.
Internal sensor fault — A built-in sensor is malfunctioning
This fault indicates that one of the pump's internal sensors (e.g., for temperature, pressure, or flow) is not providing valid readings or has failed. This can affect the pump's control and protective functions.
No lights on the Grundfos Eye — Power off or pump not running
The Grundfos Eye indicator lights are off. This means the pump is either not receiving power or is not currently operating.
Overvoltage — Supply voltage is too high
This fault indicates that the electrical supply voltage to the pump has risen above the acceptable operating range. Excessive voltage can damage the pump's electronics and motor.
Pump communication fault — Communication with the pump failed
This error means the pump is unable to communicate with its control system, a remote device, or other pumps in a multi-pump setup. This can prevent proper monitoring and control.
External Alarm Signal Activated - Pump has registered a fault
The pump's external signal relay (Relay 1, if configured as Alarm) has activated, indicating that the pump has registered a fault. This signal is typically sent to an external building management system (BMS) or alarm panel.
External Ready Signal Not Activated - Pump has registered a fault and cannot run
The pump's external signal relay (Relay 2, if configured as Ready) is not activated, indicating that the pump has registered a fault and is unable to run. This signal is typically sent to an external building management system (BMS) or control panel.
Two red indicator lights flashing — Pump stopped due to alarm
The Grundfos Eye shows two red lights flashing at the same time. This indicates that the pump has stopped because a critical alarm condition has been detected.
Undervoltage — Supply voltage is too low
This fault indicates that the electrical supply voltage to the pump has dropped below the acceptable operating range. Insufficient voltage can lead to motor damage or unreliable operation.
Warning 77 — Multi-pump communication lost
The two pumps in a multi-pump system have lost their radio connection with each other. Both pumps will continue to operate based on their own local settings.
Warning 88 — Internal sensor fault
The pump is detecting an issue with its internal sensor. It will continue to operate, but a yellow light will indicate this warning. The sensor might be blocked or faulty.
Yellow indicator light running — Pump running with warning
The Grundfos Eye displays a single yellow light moving in the direction of pump rotation. This indicates that the pump is currently running but an operational warning has been detected.
Solid yellow indicator light — Pump stopped with warning
The Grundfos Eye displays a single yellow light that is continuously on. This indicates that the pump has stopped operating due to a warning condition.
