Steady Red LED

Steady Red LED - Charging fault or authentication failed

Zaptec · Pro

What does Steady Red LED mean?

The charging station's status indicator shows a steady red light, which can indicate a charging fault with the cable or vehicle, or a persistent authentication failure. It might also point to a tripped fuse or circuit breaker within the system.

Common Causes

  • Charging fault on the charging cable itself
  • Charging fault with the vehicle being charged
  • RFID tag or charging card is not connected to your user profile
  • Fuses or circuit breaker inside the charging station have tripped

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Disconnect the charging cable from the charging station. Observe if the status indicator turns green.

  2. 2

If the indicator turns green, reconnect the charging cable. If charging does not start and the indicator turns red again, there may be a fault with the charging cable or vehicle.

  3. 3

If the indicator does not turn green after disconnecting the cable, check the fuses as described in the chapter 'Check the Circuit Breaker in the Charging Station'.

  4. 4

Verify that your RFID tag or charging card is properly connected to your user profile in the Zaptec Portal.
