Evaporator Coil Temperature 1 Sensor Fail

Evaporator Coil Temperature 1 Sensor Fail alarm

York · Smart Equipment Control

What does Evaporator Coil Temperature 1 Sensor Fail mean?

This alarm signifies that the Evaporator Coil 1 (EC1) sensor has failed, either due to an open circuit or by providing readings outside its expected range. This sensor protects the compressor from freezing.

Common Causes

  • EC1 sensor has an open circuit
  • EC1 sensor readings are outside the input range
  • Damaged wiring harness to the EC1 sensor
  • Faulty EC1 sensor
  • Faulty SEC board

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the EC1 sensor reading via the Map Gateway tool ('Details' > 'Service' > 'Inputs' > 'CoilSensors').

  2. 2

Unplug the EC1 sensor wires from the SEC board and measure the resistance of the wires to the sensor. Compare this to a resistance chart for the expected temperature.

  3. 3

If the resistance reading is incorrect, trace the wires from the plug to the sensor and perform the resistance check again.

  4. 4

If the wiring harness is damaged, replace or repair it. If the harness is fine, replace the sensor. If both are functional, replace the SEC board.
