13 fault codes documented
Balance Mode Error icon on InfoKey — Unable to enter Balance Mode
This icon displays if you unsuccessfully attempt to enter Balance Mode. This can happen if the Powerbase is not level or the LeanSteer Frame is tilted when you try to step on.
Flashing or solid green Charge Indicator light — Charging normally
These lights indicate that the Segway PT is plugged in and the batteries are charging correctly. The pattern may be flashing or solid green.
InfoKey Controller Low Battery icon — Replace InfoKey battery
This icon indicates that the battery in the InfoKey Controller needs to be replaced. Use a CR2430 replacement battery.
Red Balance Indicator lights — Segway PT not ready to step on
One or more red Balance Indicator lights mean the Powerbase or LeanSteer Frame are tilted, and it is not safe to step on the Segway PT. One green center light indicates it is ready.
Reduced Performance icon on InfoKey — Speed limit lowered due to temporary condition
This icon appears when the Segway PT is operating at reduced performance levels with a lowered speed limit due to a temporary condition. The Speed Limiter is an alert that you might be moving too fast.
Rider Detect Error icons on Display — Sensors not engaged or weight on mats at startup
These icons display if two of the four Rider Detect Sensors are not depressed while riding, or if there is any weight on the Mats when the Segway PT starts up.
Safety Shutdown icon on InfoKey — Critical system fault detected
This icon appears when the Segway PT detects a critical error in its redundant systems. The Segway PT will slow down, shake the handlebar, make a growling sound, flash console lights, and emit an audio alert. You have about 10 seconds to stop safely.
Red or off Charge Indicator light — Charging failure detected
If a charging failure is detected, charging stops. A solid red light or no light at all indicates a problem with the charging process.
Speed Limiter engaged — Reduced performance level due to temporary condition
The Segway PT is operating at reduced performance because the speed limit has been lowered. This occurs due to a temporary condition or if the Segway PT detects you are moving too fast.
System Faults icon on InfoKey — Hardware fault detected
This icon indicates a hardware fault in the Powerbase or Batteries. The Segway PT cannot be used until this fault is cleared.
Unhappy face on InfoKey Controller — Safety Shutdown initiated
This icon appears on the InfoKey Controller during a Safety Shutdown. This occurs when a fault is detected in redundant systems or a battery is depleted. The Segway PT will reduce speed, shake the handlebar, flash lights, and make a warning tone.
Warning icon on Display — General warning condition
This icon indicates a warning condition, which can be caused by aggressive riding, operating outside the temperature range, or a rider lifting their foot off the Mat.
Wrench icon on Display — System fault requires service
This icon indicates a system fault on the Segway PT that requires attention from a service professional.
