Unbalanced load

Machine spins at reduced speed or no spin – Unbalanced load detected

Indesit · Washing Machines

What does Unbalanced load mean?

The Washing Machine detects an unbalanced load before spinning to prevent excessive vibrations. If the load is not distributed uniformly, the machine will reduce the spin speed or may skip the spin cycle entirely to protect itself.

Common Causes

  • Laundry is unevenly distributed inside the drum
  • Single heavy items are washing alone
  • Overloading or underloading the machine
  • Items are tangled together

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Pause the machine, open the door, and manually redistribute the laundry inside the drum for even weight distribution.

  2. 2

To improve load balance, try mixing small and large garments in the same wash.

  3. 3

Avoid washing a single very heavy item, as this can easily lead to an unbalanced load.

  4. 4

Close the door firmly and resume the wash cycle.

  5. 5

Check that the machine is placed on a stable, level surface, as this can also affect load balancing.
