Continuous Load/Unload

Washing Machine continuously loads and unloads water

Indesit · Washing Machines

What does Continuous Load/Unload mean?

The Washing Machine repeatedly fills with water and then drains it immediately. This can be caused by an incorrectly positioned drain hose or an issue with the home's drainage system.

Common Causes

  • The drain hose is not fitted between 65 and 100 cm from the floor.
  • The free end of the hose is immersed in water.
  • The wall drainage system does not have a breather pipe.
  • Back-siphonage may be occurring in homes on upper floors of a building.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the drain hose is correctly positioned with its free end between 65 and 100 cm from the floor.

  2. 2

Make sure the free end of the drain hose is not immersed in water in a sink or standpipe.

  3. 3

Check if your wall drainage system has a breather pipe; consult a plumber if unsure.

  4. 4

If you live on an upper floor, consider installing a special anti-siphon valve available in shops to prevent continuous filling and draining.

  5. 5

If the problem persists, turn off the water tap and unplug the appliance.
