Code 57-xx P1 Open or 58-xx P2 Open - Pressure transducer signal wire is open.

Carrier · Air Conditioners & Heat Pumps

What does 57-01 / 57-41 / 58-01 / 58-41 mean?

This fault indicates that the signal wire for pressure transducer P1 (codes 57-xx) or P2 (codes 58-xx) is 'open,' meaning it's returning more than 4.5V DC. This typically occurs if the sensor wire is disconnected, causing the PCM to pull the signal voltage to +5V DC.

Common Causes

  • Disconnected sensor wire for P1 or P2 transducer.
  • Power wire not supplying +5V DC to the transducer.
  • Signal wire not returning DC Voltage between 0.5-4.5 VDC.
  • Faulty pressure transducer part.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Visually inspect the wiring harnesses for pressure transducers P1 and P2, focusing on the green signal wire (GRN).

  2. 2

Ensure the sensor wire is securely connected to both the transducer and the PCM board.

  3. 3

Verify that the red power wire (RED) is supplying +5V DC and the green signal wire (GRN) is returning a DC voltage between 0.5-4.5 VDC.

  4. 4

If connections and voltages appear correct, the pressure transducer itself may be faulty and require replacement by a technician.
