The discharge thermistor (ODT), essential for compressor protection and ensuring discharge superheat, is detected as 'open' (resistance above 310kohm). When this malfunction is active, the system will only run at startup speed, and '47' may be substituted for its value.
Click steps to track your progress.
Measure the resistance value of the discharge thermistor at the PCM connector.
If the value is above 310kohm (and OAT/OCT are above 25F), inspect the thermistor wiring and connector for breaks.
If no breaks are visually observed, replace the discharge thermistor sensor.
If the measured resistance is within the allowable range, the PCM (Processor Control Module) may be faulty and require replacement by a qualified technician.
