E9 — Low Fuel Detection Error

Weber · SmokeFire Grills

What does E9 mean?

The grill's low fuel sensor indicates that the pellet level is critically low. The grill will automatically run a shutdown procedure if it is hot.

Common Causes

  • Dirty low fuel sensor window
  • Actual low pellet level in the hopper
  • Faulty low fuel sensor

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Allow the grill to complete its shutdown procedure and cool completely. Do not unplug or power off during shutdown.

  2. 2

Once cooled, place a container under the hopper and pull the slide door to release pellets.

  3. 3

Using a dry cloth or paper towel, wipe the low fuel sensor window until it is clean.

  4. 4

Push the hopper slide door closed and refill the hopper with pellets.

  5. 5

Power on the grill and begin a cook to allow the controller to run diagnostics. If E9 persists, contact Customer Service for low fuel sensor replacement.
