E1 — Auger Jam

What does E1 mean?

The grill's auger, which feeds pellets, is blocked by pellets or debris, preventing proper operation. The grill will automatically run a shutdown procedure if it is hot.

Common Causes

  • Pellets or debris jamming the auger tube
  • Broken shear pin or hardware on the auger/motor assembly

    Allow the grill to complete its shutdown procedure and cool completely. Do not unplug or power off during shutdown.

  2. 2

    Once cooled, power off the grill and unplug it from the power source.

  3. 3

    Pull the hopper slide door to release and empty pellets into a container.

  4. 4

    Remove the rear access panel and disconnect the motor wire connection. Carefully remove the auger/motor assembly.

  5. 5

    Clean the auger tube and auger/motor assembly to remove any pellets and debris. Verify the shear pin and hardware are intact, replacing if broken.

  6. 6

    Reinstall the auger/motor assembly and reconnect the motor. Reinstall the rear access panel and close the hopper slide door. Refill the hopper with pellets.
