Red LED blinking

Red LED blinking — Low battery warning

SolarEdge · ESS Systems

What does Red LED blinking mean?

The red LED on the inverter/charger is blinking, indicating a low battery condition. This warning can occur in off-grid or backup systems, or when the battery is nearly depleted in self-consumption optimization systems.

Common Causes

  • Battery voltage is below the low DC voltage alarm threshold.
  • System is configured for off-grid or backup power.
  • Battery is discharging heavily and approaching its minimum state of charge.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the battery voltage via the CCGX or VRM Portal.

  2. 2

Consider disabling the low-battery warning pop-up on the CCGX by setting 'Low DC voltage alarm' to 'Alarm only' in the Setup > Alarms menu.

  3. 3

For email notifications, set 'Automatic alarm monitoring' to 'Only alarms' on the VRM Portal.

  4. 4

Ensure the battery is adequately charged, especially if the system is in off-grid or backup mode.
