What does EarthCurrentMax mean?

The SMA Sunny Boy inverter has detected a ground fault in the PV array. This means the current between PV+ and ground is outside the acceptable range. This message appears on the display, and the GFDI fuse may have cleared.

    Switch off the external DC disconnect for the Sunny Boy.

  2. 2

    Switch off the main AC circuit breaker in the main utility panel for the Sunny Boy.

  3. 3

    Thoroughly troubleshoot the PV array to locate and clear the ground fault.

  4. 4

    Replace the GFDI fuse only after the ground fault has been completely cleared.

  5. 5

    Re-enable AC and DC power after the fuse replacement.
