FAN not operating

Fan (F-FAN, R-FAN, C-FAN) not operating - Cooling fan malfunction

Samsung · Refrigerators

What does FAN not operating mean?

If the freezer, Refrigerator, or compressor fans are not operating, it can indicate issues with the fan motor itself, wiring, or a locked motor. The system attempts to restart the fan if rotation pulses are not detected, repeating up to 4 times.

Common Causes

  • Faulty FAN-MOTOR itself.
  • Bad contact of wiring connection.
  • Foreign matters (like ice) locking the motor.
  • Issue with door switch connection.
  • Main PCB malfunction.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Perform a self-diagnostic function to check for specific fan errors (e.g., F FAN ERROR, C FAN ERROR).

  2. 2

Power OFF the Refrigerator, wait 5 minutes, then power ON again to attempt a reset.

  3. 3

Check door operation; if the door switch is faulty, the fan might not operate.

  4. 4

Visually inspect wiring connections for the fan motors for bad contact.

  5. 5

If accessible, check for foreign objects (like ice) obstructing the fan blades.
