Display on/oF

Display shows 'on' or 'oF' for 5 seconds - Exhibition Mode active

Samsung · Refrigerators

What does Display on/oF mean?

The Refrigerator is in Exhibition Mode (for regions other than North America). This mode is used for display purposes, so the compressor is turned off, and the Refrigerator will not cool. The display will show 'on' or 'oF' for 5 seconds when entering or exiting this mode, then return to normal display.

Common Causes

  • Exhibition Mode was activated, potentially by pressing the Refrigerator and Power Cool buttons for 6 seconds, then the Door Alarm button.
  • The Refrigerator was left in this mode after an initial setup or demonstration.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the Refrigerator is not intended for display use; if so, this mode is normal.

  2. 2

To exit, press the Refrigerator and Power Cool buttons simultaneously for at least 6 seconds until the control display blinks.

  3. 3

While the display is blinking, press the Door Alarm button once.

  4. 4

Verify that the display no longer shows 'on' or 'oF' (after the 5-second confirmation) and the Refrigerator begins to cool.

  5. 5

If the mode persists, unplug the Refrigerator for a minute and plug it back in, then retry the button sequence.
