5201 — High-pressure sensor (63HS) trouble

Mitsubishi Electric · PUMY Air Conditioners

What does 5201 mean?

This code indicates a problem with the high-pressure sensor (63HS), specifically if it detects a pressure of 1 kgf/cm² or less during operation. When this low pressure is detected, the compressor stops and enters a 3-minute anti-restart mode to protect the system. If the pressure remains low before a restart, it triggers an abnormal stop.

Common Causes

  • A faulty high-pressure sensor (63HS) itself.
  • Refrigerant gas leakage, leading to a decrease in the system's internal pressure.
  • Loose, disconnected, or damaged wiring or connector to the high-pressure sensor.
  • A malfunction in the outdoor controller board's input circuit for the sensor.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Turn off the main power to the unit at the circuit breaker for safety.

  2. 2

Carefully inspect the wiring and connector for the high-pressure sensor (63HS) on the outdoor unit for any disconnections, looseness, or damage. Securely reconnect any loose parts.

  3. 3

Turn the power back on and observe if the error clears. The system may need a few minutes to normalize.

  4. 4

If the problem persists, it may indicate a refrigerant leak and decreased internal pressure, which requires a qualified HVAC technician to repair and recharge the system.
