1102 — Compressor temperature trouble

Mitsubishi Electric · PUMY Air Conditioners

What does 1102 mean?

This code indicates that the compressor's temperature (detected by thermistor TH4) has become excessively high, either continuously exceeding 110°C (230°F) for 5 minutes or momentarily going above 125°C (257°F). This signifies that the compressor is overheating, which can lead to severe damage.

Common Causes

  • Outdoor stop valve not fully open.
  • Refrigerant shortage or leakage in the system, leading to inefficient cooling of the compressor.
  • A clogged refrigerant system caused by foreign objects.
  • Faulty compressor thermistor (TH4) or its wiring/connection.
  • Malfunctioning electronic expansion valve (LEV) or indoor controller board.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the outdoor stop valve (liquid/gas) is fully open. These valves should be completely open during operation to allow proper refrigerant flow.

  2. 2

Check for any visible signs of refrigerant leaks around the outdoor unit or piping connections, as low refrigerant can cause the compressor to overheat.

  3. 3

Turn off the main power to the unit at the circuit breaker, wait for a few minutes, then turn it back on to reset the system.

  4. 4

If the issue persists, a qualified HVAC technician should be contacted to check for refrigerant leaks, inspect the system for clogs, and evaluate the thermistor and valves.
