What does Heating Delay (Defrost) mean?

When heating operation is selected, the unit does not start blowing warm air right away. There is a delay before warm air is discharged.

Common Causes

  • The outdoor unit may be in the process of defrosting, which needs to be completed before warm air can be blown out.
  • Initial startup preparation when the unit has been off for a while or after a power cycle.

    Wait for a few minutes, up to a maximum of 10 minutes, for the unit to prepare and begin blowing warm air.

    This delay is normal if the outdoor unit is defrosting or undergoing initial startup.

    Do not turn off the unit during this preparatory period, as it will reset the process.
