Start/Stop flashes slowly

Start/Stop sensor flashes slowly — Energy saving mode activated

Miele · Washing Machines

What does Start/Stop flashes slowly mean?

The Start/Stop sensor light is slowly flashing, and the display and sensor control lighting are switched off to save energy. This is a normal energy-saving behavior, not a fault.

Common Causes

  • The "Display" off status setting is enabled.
  • The machine has entered energy-saving mode after 10 minutes of inactivity or after the program has ended (depending on setting).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Touch the Start/Stop sensor control to reactivate the indicators (this will not affect a running program).

  2. 2

To change this behavior, go to "Settings" -> "Display off status" and choose "Off" to keep lighting on, or "On. Not in current prog." to keep it on during the program.

  3. 3

No further action is needed if this behavior is desired.
