  and signal — Filters clogged and airways blocked

Miele · Tumble Dryers

What does   mean?

This fault message, accompanied by an audible signal after a programme has been cancelled, indicates a significant blockage within the dryer. Both the fluff filters and the plinth filter are likely clogged, and the internal airways underneath the plinth filter and the heat exchanger are also blocked with fluff.

Common Causes

  • Fluff filters are heavily clogged with lint
  • Plinth filter is severely clogged
  • Airways (under plinth filter and heat exchanger) are blocked with fluff

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Clean the fluff filters thoroughly, ensuring all lint is removed as per the 'Cleaning and care' instructions.

  2. 2

Clean the plinth filter completely, following the guidance in the 'Cleaning and care' section.

  3. 3

Thoroughly clean the airways area, which is located underneath the plinth filter and around the heat exchanger.

  4. 4

Switch the tumble dryer off at the main power, then switch it back on again to clear the fault message.

  5. 5

Consider adjusting the 'Airways indicator' () in programmable functions to receive earlier reminders for fluff build-up.
