EEV Abnormal

EEV connector loose or EEV resistance out of range

Lennox · EL18KSLV Series Outdoor Units

What does EEV Abnormal mean?

The Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) may not be functioning correctly if its connector is loose or its resistance is outside the specified limits.

Common Causes

  • EEV connector is not inserted correctly or is loose.
  • The EEV itself has failed or has incorrect resistance.
  • The main control board (PCB) may be faulty.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check if the EEV connector is correctly and firmly inserted into the PCB.

  2. 2

Turn the power off and then back on.

  3. 3

Listen for a repositioning sound from the EEV approximately 2 minutes after power-on. If no sound is heard, proceed to the next step.

  4. 4

Disconnect the EEV connector and check its resistance against the resistance tables in the manual.

  5. 5

If resistance is okay, the PCB may be at fault and require replacement.
