F6 - ODU Tube Temperature Sensor Error

GE Appliances · Air Conditioning

What does F6 mean?

An F6 error indicates that the outdoor unit (ODU) tube temperature sensor is not functioning correctly. The system cannot obtain valid temperature data, causing it to halt operation. This code appears on the ODU main board LED.

Common Causes

  • Poor contact between the temperature sensor and the main board terminal
  • Temperature sensor is abnormal
  • Detecting circuit is abnormal

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that the tube temperature sensor is correctly plugged into its socket on the main board.

  2. 2

Check the terminal connection between the main board and the sensor for looseness or foreign objects. Tighten or clean if needed.

  3. 3

Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance. Refer to Appendix 1 for the temperature-resistance relationship.

  4. 4

Replace the temperature sensor if it is abnormal.

  5. 5

Inspect the detecting circuit for any issues.

  6. 6

Replace the outdoor main board if the error remains.
