Door locked (spin/water)

Door won't unlock – During spin or with high water level

Electrolux · Washing Machines

What does Door locked (spin/water) mean?

For safety, the washer door remains locked if the tub is still spinning after a cycle interruption, or if the water level inside the drum is above the bottom of the door opening or flexible door gasket.

Common Causes

  • Tub is still spinning after a cycle interruption
  • Water level inside the drum is too high

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

If the cycle was paused or interrupted during a spin, wait for the tub to completely stop spinning before attempting to open the door.

  2. 2

If the water level is high, select a "Drain & Spin" cycle (if available) or a "Cancel" cycle to remove water before the door will unlock.

  3. 3

Do not attempt to force the door open, as this can cause damage to the door lock mechanism.
