SF##

SF## — Storage Failure (SF) Error: Invalid Data Stored in Memory

Carrier · VVT-1T System

What does SF## mean?

SF errors (SF##) are non-transparent errors that occur when the slave thermostat replaces invalid data in its memory with default factory values. While not fatal, the system controller will not use zone information from this slave thermostat to determine the system mode.

Common Causes

  • Invalid data stored in the slave thermostat's memory, leading to data corruption.
  • Affected functions like PGC Setback, Rotating Display, or Minimum Ventilation Damper Position may be misconfigured.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

If Error Code Display is ON, the SF## error will show. If OFF, use ACS software to access the error.

  2. 2

Ensure the Rotary Switch Lock option is OFF (communication configured only) to clear SF errors locally.

  3. 3

Identify the specific SF error code (e.g., SF10) and consult Table 3 for affected configurations.

  4. 4

Manually reconfigure each affected function at the slave thermostat, even if the default value is the desired one, using the rotary switch and set point buttons.

  5. 5

Alternatively, use the PC Command Center, establish communications, perform a Device Inquiry, and use Modify Device Information to configure options and Perform Update to send settings.
