HF32

HF32 — Zone Damper Supply-Air Temperature Sensor Out of Operating Range

Carrier · VVT-1T System

What does HF32 mean?

This error occurs when the supply-air temperature sensor in the zone damper reads a temperature that is outside its normal operating range of 30 to 180 F. The system detects an extreme temperature, indicating a potential issue with the sensor or its environment.

Common Causes

  • Damaged supply-air temperature sensor wiring or loose connections.
  • Control wiring running too close to other electrical wiring (AC, control, communication bus).
  • Incorrect calibration of the supply-air temperature sensor.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check all wiring and connections for the supply-air temperature sensor to the damper actuator circuit board. Ensure they are physically intact and secure.

  2. 2

Verify that the 5-conductor control wiring between the damper actuator and slave thermostat is at least 12 inches away from other electrical wiring.

  3. 3

Calibrate the supply-air temperature sensor manually at the slave thermostat using a thermometer. Turn the rotary switch to position 7 and adjust the display to match the thermometer reading.

  4. 4

If manual calibration fails, use the Device Calibration software with an accurate thermometer to adjust and update the sensor reading.
