What does 56 mean?

The Outdoor Air Thermistor (OAT) or Outdoor Coil Thermistor (OCT) readings are outside their expected range. This is often caused by improper sensor installation or placement, such as the sensor body touching sheet metal.

Common Causes

  • Coil Thermistor not properly attached or in wrong location
  • Outdoor Ambient Temperature sensor improperly installed (sensor body may be in contact with sheet metal)

    Ensure the Coil Thermistor is properly clipped to the distributor entry-tube.

    Properly install the Outdoor Ambient Temperature (OAT) sensor, making sure its body is not in contact with sheet metal.

    Check the integrity and connections of both the OAT and OCT sensors for any damage or looseness.
