What does LED blinks rapidly then slowly (0.5s on, 0.5s off) mean?

The Appliance Control Unit (ACU) has a status LED. After power-up, a rapid blink followed by a slow blink (0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off) indicates that the microcontroller and its power supply are functioning correctly.
