ACU Status LED Blinking Slowly — ACU Functioning Normally

Whirlpool · Diagnostic Mode

What does LED blinks rapidly then slowly (0.5s on, 0.5s off) mean?

The Appliance Control Unit (ACU) has a status LED. After power-up, a rapid blink followed by a slow blink (0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off) indicates that the microcontroller and its power supply are functioning correctly.

Common Causes

  • Normal ACU operation

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Observe the ACU status LED after plugging in the washer.

  2. 2

If the LED blinks slowly (0.5s on, 0.5s off) during washer operation, the ACU is likely okay.

  3. 3

If the LED does not light up, check for a 5V DC supply to the microcontroller and consider replacing the ACU.

  4. 4

If the LED does not blink slowly within 30 seconds of power-up, the microcontroller may not be responding; replace the ACU.
