S.41 — Water pressure too high (> 2.8 bar)

Vaillant · ecoTEC pro Boilers

What does S.41 mean?

The boiler's internal water pressure has exceeded the safe limit of 2.8 bar. High pressure can indicate an issue within the heating system.

Common Causes

  • System has been overfilled with water.
  • Expansion vessel may be faulty or requires recharging.
  • Filling loop may be incorrectly closed or leaking.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Locate the filling loop and ensure it is fully closed and not allowing water into the system.

  2. 2

If safe to do so, carefully drain a small amount of water from a radiator bleed valve to reduce pressure (ensure boiler is off and cold).

  3. 3

If the high pressure persists or reoccurs frequently, contact a qualified heating engineer.
