Event 9005 — Changing of grid parameters not possible: Ensure DC supply

SMA · SUNNY BOY Solar Inverters

What does 9005 mean?

You are unable to change grid parameters due to a protection mechanism or insufficient DC voltage. The main CPU requires a minimum DC voltage to operate and allow parameter changes.

Common Causes

  • The parameters you are trying to change are protected (requiring SMA Grid Guard code).
  • Insufficient DC voltage at the DC input to power the main CPU for parameter changes.
  • It's night time or very low solar irradiation, resulting in low DC voltage.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Enter the correct SMA Grid Guard code to unlock protected parameters.

  2. 2

Ensure there is sufficient DC start voltage available (check if the green LED is flashing, pulsing, or glowing).

  3. 3

Attempt the parameter change during daylight hours with good solar irradiation.

  4. 4

If DC voltage remains insufficient, check the PV array for issues.
