Waiting

Waiting — PV voltage not high enough to start

SMA · Sunny Boy Inverters

What does Waiting mean?

The inverter displays 'Waiting' when the voltage from the PV (photovoltaic) array is not sufficient to begin operation. This is common during low light conditions.

Common Causes

  • Insufficient solar irradiation (e.g., morning, evening, cloudy weather).
  • Potential issue with the PV array connections or output.
  • Inverter is performing startup checks.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Wait for solar irradiation to increase (e.g., later in the day) to see if the inverter starts automatically.

  2. 2

Check the PV array for any visible obstructions (shade, dirt) that might be reducing sunlight.

  3. 3

If the issue persists during adequate daylight, contact your installer to check the PV array voltage and connections.
