F17 - Indoor standby units freezing abnormality

What does F17 mean?

The indoor unit's heat exchanger may be freezing. The outdoor unit will display 'F17' to the corresponding indoor unit and 'H39' to others. This is indicated when the indoor intake air temperature is significantly different from the indoor pipe temperature, or when the indoor pipe temperature is too low.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect wiring connections
  • Faulty temperature sensor
  • Malfunctioning expansion valve
  • Low refrigerant charge
