Ice build-up on outdoor unit

Ice build-up in the fan, grille and/or fan cone on S2125

NIBE · S-Series Heat Pumps

What does Ice build-up on outdoor unit mean?

Ice is building up on the outdoor unit's fan, grille, or fan cone. This can restrict airflow, reduce efficiency, and potentially damage the fan.

Common Causes

  • Environmental conditions (cold and humid weather).
  • Ineffective defrosting cycles.
  • Poor airflow across the evaporator.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Activate the 'fan de-icing' function in your NIBE indoor module/control module. If the problem recurs, try 'continuous fan de-icing'.

  2. 2

Ensure that the air flow to S2125 is not blocked by foreign objects like leaves, snow, or debris.

  3. 3

Manually clear any excessive ice from the fan, grille, and fan cone if safe to do so (do not use sharp objects or hot water directly).

  4. 4

If ice build-up is frequent or severe, contact a NIBE service technician to check the defrosting function.
