6-time blink (recall mode)

Outdoor Unit Recall: 6-time blink - Power module or compressor winding short circuit

Mitsubishi Electric · Air Conditioners

What does 6-time blink (recall mode) mean?

When the outdoor unit failure mode recall function is active, the indoor unit's upper lamp blinks six times, then stays OFF for 2.5 seconds. This indicates an interface short circuit in the output of the power module (IC700) or a short circuit within the compressor winding itself.

Common Causes

  • Short circuit in the power module (IC700)
  • Short circuit in the compressor winding

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the failure mode recall function is active to observe the correct blinking pattern.

  2. 2

Turn off the power supply to the air conditioner, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on to attempt a reset.

  3. 3

A qualified technician will need to perform checks on the inverter and compressor (refer to section 12-5. 'How to check inverter/compressor').

Release the failure mode recall function by turning OFF and ON the power supply, or by pressing the RESET button on the remote controller.
