What does Disposal Knockout Missing mean?

When connecting the dishwasher's drain hose to a garbage disposal, the knockout plug was not removed from the disposal's connection nipple. This will block drainage and prevent the dishwasher from emptying water.

   Turn off power to the garbage disposal and dishwasher at the circuit breaker.

   Carefully disconnect the drain hose from the garbage disposal.

   Using a hammer and screwdriver, tap out the knockout plug from the disposal's connection nipple.

   Reconnect the drain hose securely to the garbage disposal.
