What does No Operation mean?

The microwave oven does not respond or start a cooking cycle. This can be due to issues with the electrical supply, the door, or control settings.

Common Causes

  • Blown household fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
  • Magnetron malfunction (water does not heat).
  • Door not firmly closed or a packaging spacer is present.
  • Door closed for 5 minutes or more without starting a cycle.
  • Control Lock is ON or Demo mode is ON.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check your household fuse box or circuit breaker panel; replace any blown fuse or reset a tripped breaker.

  2. 2

Firmly close the microwave door; remove any packaging spacer from inside the door if present.

  3. 3

If the door was closed for 5 minutes or more without starting, open and close it again, then start the cycle.

  4. 4

Ensure Control Lock is OFF by touching and holding the Cancel keypad for 3 seconds.

  5. 5

Verify that Demo mode is OFF by checking the oven's settings if applicable.

  6. 6

If heating 1 cup (250 mL) of cold water for 2 minutes at 100% power does not heat the water, call for service.
