What does PTO activation does not work mean?

The Power Take-Off (PTO) clutch does not engage or activate when commanded. This can prevent attachments from operating and is typically due to electrical issues like a blown fuse, low battery voltage, or wiring problems.

Common Causes

  • Blown 5A 'Fuse P.T.O.'.
  • Low battery voltage.
  • Wiring fault to the PTO clutch or switch.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check and replace the 5A 'Fuse P.T.O.' if it's blown.

  2. 2

Measure the battery voltage on J6 (pin 3) with the key in the 'ON' position; it should match battery voltage. Charge the battery if low.

  3. 3

Inspect the gray cable and connectors from J1 (pin 9) on the control board to the PTO clutch.

  4. 4

Check the blue cable and connectors from the PTO clutch to the battery.

  5. 5

Examine the yellow cables and connectors from J6 (pin 3 and pin 6) on the control board to the PTO switch. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
