Dishwasher not draining water

Hotpoint · Dishwashers

What does No water drains mean?

After a cycle, or during operation, water remains in the bottom of the Dishwasher and does not drain out. This can be caused by obstructions or issues with the drain system.

Common Causes

  • The Dishwasher cycle has not yet finished.
  • The drain hose is bent or kinked.
  • The drain duct (e.g., under the sink connection) is blocked.
  • The washing filter is clogged with food residues.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that the wash cycle is completely finished; some cycles have a pause before final drain.

  2. 2

Check the drain hose for any bends, kinks, or obstructions, ensuring it has a clear path.

  3. 3

Inspect your home's drain duct connection for blockages, especially if shared with a sink.

  4. 4

Remove and clean the washing filter at the bottom of the Dishwasher thoroughly.
