LOW SALT light

LOW SALT indicator light is on — Refined salt level is low

Hotpoint · Dishwashers

What does LOW SALT light mean?

The LOW SALT indicator light on the control panel is illuminated, or the green float in the salt dispenser cap is no longer visible. This means the refined salt level in the dispenser is low. Adding salt helps remove limescale from the water.

Common Causes

  • The salt dispenser is empty or the salt level is low.
  • The water softener needs refilling with refined salt.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Remove the lower rack and unscrew the salt container cap (anticlockwise).

  2. 2

Fill the salt container right up to its edge with refined salt (approx. 1 kg), using a funnel if needed.

  3. 3

Wipe away any salt residue from the opening and securely screw the cap back on.

  4. 4

Perform this procedure before a wash cycle to remove any leaked saline solution.
