Error Code 2 — IPM fault or excessive current

What does 2 mean?

The Inverter Power Module (IPM) has failed or detected that the compressor is drawing too much electrical current. This can prevent the compressor from running correctly.

Common Causes

  • Overcharged refrigerant system
  • Dirty outdoor coil
  • High temperature in the conditioned space or high load
  • Restriction in the refrigeration circuit
  • Seized compressor
  • Faulty wiring or connections to the IPM
