Knocking/rattling noise

Knocking or rattling noise - Spray arm striking tableware or small load

Bosch · Dishwashers Series 6

What does Knocking/rattling noise mean?

A knocking or rattling sound is heard during operation, often due to the spray arm hitting items in the dishwasher, or water jets striking the tub with a small load.

Common Causes

  • Spray arm is striking tableware.
  • With a small load the water jets directly strike against the tub.
  • Light items of tableware move about during the wash cycle.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Arrange tableware so that the spray arms do not strike any items and can rotate freely.

  2. 2

Distribute the tableware evenly or load the appliance with more tableware if running a small load.

  3. 3

Position light items of tableware securely to prevent them from moving about during the wash cycle.
